A popular data compression format. Files, which were compressed with ZIP, usually carry the file ending zip. Zip is at the same time the label name of a mass storage system of the manufacturer Iomega. A Zip disk can store 100 megabyte of data, much more than a normal 3,5-inch disk (1.4 megabyte). A new version of the zip disks seizes even 250 megabyte.
